About the Role
Shakespeare’s Globe is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager on a permanent, part-time basis to build and maintain collaborative relationships across the organisation. This role is responsible for managing and overseeing the in-house payroll and pension functions for approximately 375 permanent employees and a further 400 variable workers including casual, PAYE and non-PAYE staff via monthly and weekly payrolls throughout the year. Key responsibilities include oversight and account management of four pension schemes (NOW pensions, Aviva, Equity, and Musicians Union), working closely with the Payroll Assistant and other stakeholders to create automated processes, ensure appropriate controls, resolve payroll and pension queries, and maintain effective systems.
The Payroll Manager prepares payroll outputs and reports for review, ensuring timely final authorisation, sign-off, and release of payroll payments in line with agreed controls and delegated authorities. The role also involves escalating exceptions, variances, policy deviations, and high-risk items for decision and approval. Shakespeare’s Globe is committed to diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from underrepresented groups.
