About the Role
Southwark’s Directors are leading the way in delivering a customer-focused, future-ready Housing service with residents at the heart of everything we do. As part of the Chief Executive’s department, this role places you at the centre of decision-making, providing essential support to two senior Housing Directors. You will manage busy diaries, coordinate high-level meetings, handle sensitive correspondence, and organise briefings, bringing order and clarity to a fast-paced, high-profile environment. Acting as a key point of contact, you will liaise professionally with senior colleagues, councillors, and external partners, representing the Directors with care and discretion. Your ability to anticipate needs, solve problems, and keep operations running smoothly will support exceptional leadership and help deliver lasting change across Southwark’s Housing service.

Experience
- Proven track record supporting senior managers, ideally within local government or a similarly complex environment
- Experience managing busy diaries, inboxes, and competing priorities

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent communication skills: clear, confident, and discreet
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital tools for managing administration, meetings, and reports
- Comfortable handling enquiries from councillors, stakeholders, and the public with professionalism and tact
- Able to work independently, take initiative, and adapt quickly to changing demands
- A calm, proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent), including English and Maths at grade C / 4 or above
