About the Role
Lambeth Council is embarking on an exciting journey to deliver bold ambitions for its communities through the Lambeth 2030 Plan and the transformational One Lambeth Programme. We are seeking two Practitioner Managers to join our Adult Social Care Mental Health and Substance Misuse Services. This is a unique opportunity to work within the Living Well Network Alliance, collaborating with key partners such as South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, Certitude, Thames Reach, and South London ICB to provide integrated mental health services.

The Substance Misuse Team operates within a multidisciplinary environment offering a wide range of support services including assessments, prescribing, counselling, recovery groups, detox, rehabilitation, and aftercare. The team also undertakes Care Act assessments for HMP Brixton and social work within Homeless Hostels.

The Practitioner Manager will co-manage the daytime social care service, ensuring delivery of a quality, responsive, safe, and person-centred service that promotes the well-being of Lambeth residents. Responsibilities include supervising up to 8 social care staff, managing case assignments and complex cases, overseeing safeguarding procedures, authorising assessments, and supporting professional development through regular 1:1s and appraisals. The role also involves leading on specialist service areas and contributing to service development initiatives.

This role requires a qualified social worker with significant post-qualifying experience. Previous management experience and mental health service experience are preferred but not essential. Familiarity with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Mental Health Act is essential.

Experience
