The Velocity team exists to eliminate friction by treating internal developers as customers. As a Principal DevEx Engineer, you will abstract complexity by building intuitive tooling that enables self-service, allowing developers to focus on product logic. You will standardize excellence by baking best practices, security, observability, and scalability into the core stack so they are not afterthoughts.

Your responsibilities will include building self-service tools that empower product teams with autonomy without sacrificing system stability, architecting and evolving the core stack (AWS, EKS, Terraform), leading reliability initiatives including business continuity planning and sustainable on-call rotations, supporting infrastructure for industry-leading privacy features such as the TIME-recognized "Anonymous Mode," and implementing best-in-class observability (metrics, logs, tracing) to proactively identify and mitigate issues before they impact users.

Experience
15+ years in AWS Infrastructure, Developer Experience, SRE, or DevOps roles supporting high-traffic, distributed environments.

About you
Deep expertise in AWS and Kubernetes (K8s) is essential.
Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) with a coding background; experience with Python, Scala, or Go is beneficial.
Comfortable working across the full stack, from front-end development using React to engineering Terraform modules for infrastructure abstractions.
Strong communication skills with a "doc-first" mentality and ability to collaborate across distributed product teams.
Experience with AI automation impact on development teams and software delivery lifecycle, with strong ideas on supporting teams through this transformation.

Qualifications
Bonus points for background in hardening infrastructure for high-compliance or security-sensitive environments.
Experience scaling consumer tech platforms with millions of concurrent users.
Professional accreditations such as AWS Professional Architect, CKAD, or KCSA are advantageous.
