PO5: £54,360 - £57,495 per annum including London Weighting plus 8.5% market supplement per month
About the Role
You will lead the review and development of the council’s planning policy documents, playing a key role in delivering the priorities and ambitions of the Borough Plan. This includes managing and overseeing workstreams related to monitoring, data, mapping, and research to support the preparation of a new Local Plan. The role involves line management responsibility, including motivating and supporting the Planning Monitoring Officer with related monitoring tasks. We operate a hybrid working model, with a minimum of 2 days per week in our modern offices in Brixton Town Centre, less than 5 minutes’ walk from Underground and Overground stations.

About the Team
The Planning Policy team is part of the Planning & Sustainability division and plays an instrumental role in shaping positive and innovative planning policy and guidance to meet the borough’s strategic goals.
Experience
Proven experience in planning policy development and review, with strong skills in data analysis, monitoring, mapping, and research. Experience in line management and the ability to motivate and support team members is essential.

You are outward looking with a positive attitude, able to work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver council objectives. You have strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality planning policies that support community ambitions.
Qualifications
A relevant professional qualification in planning or a related discipline is desirable. Demonstrable knowledge of local government planning policy frameworks and procedures is expected.
