Hours
Full Time, with a minimum of 60% of working time expected to be spent in the office to enable in-person interaction and collaboration. Hybrid working options available in line with business needs and individual circumstances.

Salary
£62,862 per annum plus £18,211 employer contribution towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

About the Role
This role is based within the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) London, focusing on improving the health and wellbeing of Londoners and tackling health disparities related to alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. The Programme Manager will coordinate and deliver specialist public health advice to support local government in improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities associated with these behaviours. The role involves utilising expertise within DHSC/OHID and regional partners to influence policy and practice, strengthen public health capacity, and support evidence-based approaches across London. The postholder will also deputise for the Head of Alcohol, Drugs and Tobacco as required and contribute to governance, audit, assurance, and quality improvement activities. This position requires effective partnership working with a wide range of stakeholders including local government, NHS, academia, criminal justice partners, and treatment providers to deliver national, regional, and local priorities. Some travel across the DHSC estate may be required.

Requirements

Experience
- Leading or delivering complex public health or health improvement programmes using programme, project, change, or quality improvement methodologies.
- Analysing, interpreting, and synthesising complex public health data and evidence to inform decision-making.
- Building productive partnerships and networks across organisational boundaries, including influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders.
- Translating national or regional priorities into practical delivery plans and achieving outcomes in complex systems.
- Managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality work at pace.

Qualifications
