About the Role
Wates are seeking a Project Manager to join our SmartSpace team, providing project leadership across a diverse portfolio of commercial new build, fit out, and refurbishment projects. Our work spans commercial offices, retail, residential, banking, and public and private sector schemes across the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-value, nationally delivered projects within a market-leading contractor, supported by a collaborative and forward-thinking culture.

The Project Manager will provide visible leadership, insight, coordination, and foresight to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of projects. You will maintain excellent client relationships and mentor site and project teams. The role requires managing project briefs, programmes, and budgets, leading on-site teams and subcontractors, and ensuring high standards of quality and finish. You will also monitor budgets, manage variations, control costs, approve progress claims, and act as the primary client interface providing clear and regular progress updates.

Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards including RAMS and risk assessments, managing project documentation such as RFIs, change control, and snagging processes are key responsibilities. You will also support, mentor, and deputise for the Project Director when required.

Experience
Proven experience delivering commercial or mixed-use fit out and refurbishment projects, ideally within live or complex environments. Comfortable working across varying asset types and client profiles.
