About the Role
We are seeking a Receptionist/Administrator to join our busy GP practice as the first point of contact for patients, contractors, and visitors. You will be responsible for general administrative and reception duties, working within established processes, policies, and procedures to provide a high-quality service. Your role will involve handling telephone, face-to-face, and electronic enquiries, booking and amending patient appointments and home visits, contacting patients with information from the clinical team, and assisting patients in accessing our services and those available in the wider community. This position requires excellent communication skills, a compassionate and friendly nature, and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment with a diverse range of people and professions. IT skills are essential for creating searches, data input, and monitoring progress against national, local, and internal targets. Additional duties include processing prescription requests and providing full administrative and secretarial support. You will also be responsible for opening and securing the practice premises, managing mail, maintaining medical records, preparing consultation rooms, and supporting health and safety and confidentiality standards within the practice.
Experience
Previous experience in a reception or administrative role is desirable but not essential. Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and manage multiple tasks is important.

You should be highly organised, an effective communicator, and able to provide a professional and warm welcome to patients. Compassion, friendliness, and the ability to work collaboratively within clinical and administrative teams are essential. IT proficiency is required for data management and appointment system use. You must be able to maintain confidentiality and comply with health and safety policies.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required; however, a good standard of education and IT skills are necessary. You will be expected to undertake statutory and mandatory training as required.
