About the Role
As a Registered Mental Health Prison Nurse with North London NHS Foundation Trust, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, safe, and innovative care to patients within the prison system. Your responsibilities will include working as a member of the Mental Health Service at HMP Pentonville, engaging in various service functions such as early days in custody, planned care, crisis care, and release and transfer. You will implement sound clinical skills in mental health practice, including CPA care co-ordination, group work, risk assessment and management, and crisis intervention. You will be accountable for managing your own caseload and providing skilled assessments of patients' emotional and psychological needs. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to delivering compassionate care.
Experience
A minimum of 6 months paid experience in a Mental Health hospital environment within the last 3 years.
About you
Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices. You should possess a Dip/BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy, along with evidence of further post-registration education and training. Post-registration experience as a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse/OT or Social Worker, preferably within a Forensic Setting, is essential. You must also have specialist knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and an understanding of issues relating to equal opportunities and confidentiality.
Qualifications
Competency in safe storage and administration of medicines, ability to manage conflict, and skills in planning and organizing complex clinical activities are required.
