About the Role
Join our Estate Services Team at London and Quadrant Housing Trust (L&Q) as a Relief Caretaker. You will carry out a variety of caretaking tasks including health and safety checks, cleaning, rota management, and small repairs. Experience in trade skills, DIY, or gardening would be advantageous.
The role involves maintaining communal areas within blocks and estates, performing communal cleaning, grounds maintenance, and small maintenance repairs while adhering to health, safety, and security standards. Although predominantly lone working, you should also be able to work effectively as part of a team where sites have multiple caretakers.
Successful candidates will need to apply for or hold a Standard/Basic Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) certificate to work within the team. Early applications are encouraged as the advertisement may close early.
*The 35-hour week begins when drivers arrive at site and ends when they leave. Travel time to and from work is not paid. Specific working hours will be discussed at interview.

Excellent pension plan (up to 6% double contribution), 28 days annual leave rising to 31 days with length of service plus bank holidays, Westfield Health Cash Plan, non-contributory life assurance, up to 21 hours paid volunteering days, lifestyle benefits, Employee Assistance Programme, and more.
Experience
Practical health and safety experience is essential. Trade skills, DIY, or gardening experience would be advantageous but not mandatory.
About you
You must be a good communicator with basic Word and Excel skills to submit weekly reports, participate in MS Teams meetings, and undertake online courses and assessments. A good standard of literacy is essential. You should be self-motivated, able to work on your own initiative, and organise your time effectively. Proactive daily activity management and a good understanding of safe working practices are required. You must be willing to learn new skills as the service adapts to changing neighbourhood needs.
