About the Role
We are looking for a Research Grant and Impact Delivery Manager to oversee the stewardship and reporting of a significant Wellcome-funded programme, while helping to develop how Our Future Health measures and communicates its organisational impact and benefits. This is a two-year fixed-term opportunity to work across multidisciplinary teams and help build sustainable approaches to grant and impact reporting.
Despite big improvements in healthcare in our lifetimes, millions of people in the UK still live in poor health as they get older. Diseases such as cancer, dementia, diabetes and heart disease affect many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, improving our understanding of how and why common diseases start so that treatments can begin sooner and be more effective.
Our Future Health is the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent and treat diseases. We are a charity supported by the UK Government, working in partnership with charities and industry and closely with the NHS and public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.
What you’ll be doing:
You will work closely with delivery leads, programme teams, Finance, subject matter experts and external stakeholders. You will coordinate funder reporting and engagement, maintain oversight of grant commitments, and help establish the measures, evidence and governance needed to understand and communicate the long-term impact and value of Our Future Health.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate Wellcome financial, progress and impact reporting with programme teams, workstream leads and Finance, ensuring funder obligations and information requests are met effectively.
- Maintain oversight of grant requirements, milestones, deliverables, funding conditions and reporting obligations, supporting ongoing compliance with funder expectations.
- Work with the Our Future Health Partnership Lead to support coordinated and proactive engagement with Wellcome and other key stakeholders.
- Support discussions with Wellcome about programme performance, risks, rephasing, changes in scope and potential future funding opportunities.
- Help develop and implement a creative, holistic and sustainable approach to measuring, evidencing and communicating Our Future Health’s organisational impact and benefits.
- Bring together stakeholders to develop appropriate impact measures, indicators, data collection processes and evidence sources across research, health, policy and organisational outcomes.
- Identify gaps in existing impact measures and reporting, working with subject matter experts to develop new processes and metrics and to commission targeted analyses or evaluations where helpful.
- Create clear impact, benefits and outcomes reporting for funders, partners, participants, leadership and the wider research community, using quantitative and qualitative evidence to demonstrate value.
Experience
- Experience leading complex programmes for major charitable, government or industry research funders.
- Experience developing and embedding grant management, governance, reporting and evaluation processes.
- Experience overseeing programme delivery, risk management and reporting to funders, boards or senior stakeholders; experience in data-enabled research, health data, research infrastructure, digital products or innovation would be helpful.
- Experience developing impact, outcomes or benefits frameworks and using quantitative and qualitative evidence to evaluate impact and inform strategic decisions.
- Programme management skills, including coordinating multiple workstreams, managing risks and building effective relationships across an organisation.
- The ability to understand and communicate complex technical, scientific and operational information, including information relating to health data, research infrastructure, trusted research environments, digital products, usability and user adoption.
- Analytical, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bring together evidence and create clear reports, impact narratives and insights for different audiences.
About you
You are organised, proactive and collaborative, able to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders. You have a strong attention to detail and a passion for improving health research through effective grant and impact management. You are comfortable navigating complex information and communicating it clearly to diverse audiences.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in research management, health data, programme management or related fields would be advantageous but are not essential.
