About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Revenues and Council Tax Support (CTS) Officer who will be responsible for delivering the administration of Council Tax, Business Rates, and BIDS bills to the borough's taxpayers, as well as the collection of Housing Benefit Overpayments. This role primarily involves completing assessments for localized Hardship fund applications, updating occupation and vacation changes, and assessing eligibility for discounts and exemptions. The post supports the Revenues Team Leaders and serves as the first point of referral and advice for Revenues Assistants regarding procedures and legislation. This position is key to income collection and the assessment of council tax support discounts and monetary awards. Duties may vary depending on the location within the Revenues or Council Tax Support services, and holders of this post are expected to become fully generic over time, potentially working in either service as needed.
Experience
A minimum of 6 months experience in a Revenues, Council Tax Support, or Housing Benefits office environment.
About you
Knowledge of Council Tax & Business Rates or of the CTS schemes & Housing Benefits legislation. Good IT knowledge, including Microsoft packages such as Excel and Access. Ability to work on your own initiative in a highly pressurized environment with ever-changing and conflicting priorities.
