About the Role
Turning Point is expanding its drug and alcohol services during an exciting period of new funding and investment. We are recruiting for our Rough Sleepers provision, targeting homeless individuals in Taunton, offering a flexible outreach response to highly vulnerable people sleeping rough or living in temporary accommodation.

As a Rough Sleepers Recovery Worker, you will manage pathways to effectively place service users into detox and rehabilitation centres. You will liaise continuously with key workers to track service users' progress and support effective discharge coordination. Your role includes assertive engagement and coordinating ongoing support post-residential rehabilitation or reengaging individuals into structured treatment following failed rehabilitation to prevent rough sleeping and improve outcomes.

This role reduces the risk of rough sleeping by supporting the rehab process and providing further step-down care. You will conduct comprehensive and holistic assessments and work collaboratively with voluntary and statutory services to address mental and physical health, income maximisation, domestic abuse, and safeguarding needs to prevent relapse.

Turning Point offers a structured learning journey and clear career pathways, supporting progression into management, leadership, or specialist roles such as Advanced Substance Use Practitioner. Extensive training and a supportive learning culture encourage continuous professional development and service improvement.

Requirements

Experience
Understanding of substance and alcohol use and the recovery journey is desirable. Transferable skills from mental health, housing, or other health and social care backgrounds are also valued. Flexibility and the ability to work dynamically both one-to-one and in groups are essential. Knowledge of relapse and barriers to recovery is important, though training will be provided to develop these skills.

We welcome candidates with lived experience as well as those new to this field. Our Trainee Recovery Worker program supports individuals without all relevant experience to gain entry-level positions and progress within the organisation.

About you
Excellent communication skills and alignment with Turning Point’s values are essential. You should be creative, take initiative, and be committed to improving service quality and user experience. A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to engage with ongoing training and development are important.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential requirements for this role.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required to apply. Relevant experience and a commitment to learning and development are valued.
