About the Role
We are seeking a Scientific & Procedure Advisor to join our Authorisation Lifecycle Function within the Health Quality and Access group at the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). There are two full-time opportunities available: one permanent and one fixed term contract for 12 months. The role supports the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices to enhance public health through science and research.
The Authorisation Lifecycle function is central to delivering the frontline HQA group’s objectives. It involves data assurance, quality control, high-volume certification work, and coordination across the product lifecycle including medicines and medical devices. The role includes assessing the accuracy of documents and data on internal databases to support applications following initial assessment, as well as assessing some variations and abridged simple applications. The post holder will communicate and provide advice to internal and external stakeholders as required.
Government departments are implementing a flexible hybrid working model with a minimum of 8 days per month on site, which may flex up to 12 days depending on business needs. This enables collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders essential to MHRA business.
Experience
- A degree in chemistry, pharmacology, or another scientific discipline, or relevant experience
- Working knowledge of documentation required to support marketing authorisation applications in the UK and Europe
- Experience in compliance assessments and regulatory procedures is desirable

Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience
- Good information management and technology skills including proficiency in Word, Adobe, spreadsheets, reference databases, and agency-specific systems
- Understanding of relevant legislation, guidance, and procedures related to marketing authorisations and variations
