About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled, dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at Concordia Academy. This vital role involves supporting children with a variety of needs including Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in Speech and Language, ADHD, SEMH and Autism. SEND Teaching Assistants are valued members of the teaching team, working directly with teachers and encouraged to use their own initiative to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
The successful applicant will support children with special educational needs, helping to inspire confidence and promote their emotional, social and intellectual development in a friendly, busy environment.
Experience
- At least one year’s experience working with SEND children in the primary age range
- Experience working with children in a busy, friendly environment
- Understanding of children with SEN needs

- Reliable, trustworthy, discreet and able to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to relate in a firm and friendly way with a wide range of personalities
- Ability to use initiative and willingness to undertake direction and guidance
- Good understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Motivated to work with children with special educational needs and to inspire confidence in them
Qualifications
- Level 2 qualification in play work/childcare
- Paediatric first aid qualification (desirable)
- Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures
- A sympathetic understanding of the emotional, social and intellectual needs of children with special educational needs
