About the Role
NowVertical is a publicly listed company headquartered in Toronto, Canada, with operations across North America, EMEA, and LATAM. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will design, build, and scale agentic AI systems powered by modern Large Language Models (LLMs). Reporting to the Principal AI Engineer, you will take technical ownership of complex AI workstreams, mentor junior engineers, and help shape NowVertical’s AI platform strategy. This is a hands-on role where you will architect and deliver production-grade AI systems including multi-agent orchestration, RAG pipelines, and tool-augmented reasoning workflows across cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, and AWS. We value versatile engineers capable of navigating multiple frameworks and cloud environments to build resilient, observable, and scalable AI applications.

Experience
5–8 years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years focused on LLM-based or AI systems in production. Proven track record building and shipping RAG pipelines, autonomous agents, and multi-step reasoning chains. Strong hands-on experience with Google AI SDKs, Vertex AI, and/or Azure AI services. Deep proficiency in orchestration stacks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, or Haystack. Expert-level Python skills and strong backend development experience with FastAPI, Go, or Node.js. Familiarity with cloud platforms GCP and/or Azure including Kubernetes (GKE/AKS/EKS), Cloud Run, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi. Experience with CI/CD pipelines for AI model deployment.

Qualifications
Deep understanding of agent design patterns including planning, reflection, memory, and tool-use. Experience integrating complex enterprise APIs and event-driven systems into agentic workflows. Proven ability to trace, debug, and improve non-deterministic, multi-step AI reasoning pipelines. Knowledge of vector databases (Vertex AI Vector Search, Azure AI Search, Pinecone, Weaviate) and data engineering pipelines (BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Azure Synapse) is a plus. ETL/ELT experience preparing unstructured data for RAG and fine-tuning is desirable.
