Turner & Townsend is a global leader in project and programme management, delivering ambitious and highly technical projects across multiple sectors including Defence. The Defence South East Cost Centre supports complex Defence projects and programmes, providing services such as programme & project management, controls & performance management, cost management, and procurement. We are expanding our team to meet growing client demands and are seeking experienced project managers to deliver high-profile Defence sector projects.

As a Senior / Associate Project Manager, you will work on large-scale, complex programmes, collaborating with clients and colleagues across the South of England. You will play a key role in overcoming challenges and ensuring successful project delivery. The role is based in London with hybrid working arrangements, requiring a mix of office, remote, and client site presence.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven project management experience in the Defence sector or a closely related field.
- Leading and managing project teams to deliver successful outcomes through collaboration and strategic leadership.
- Competency in project management aligned with the APM framework, including risk management, schedule management, governance, and assurance.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and delivering projects within financial parameters.
- Experience working directly with the Ministry of Defence or Defence industry suppliers.
- Developing business cases compliant with Government standards.
- Building and maintaining trusted advisor relationships with clients.
- Coordinating contractors, consultants, and advisors across multiple projects.
- Adaptability to manage different project types such as construction, manufacturing, and capability projects.

Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Project Management Qualification such as PRINCE2, APM PMQ, or AGILE.
- NEC4 ECC PMA and Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) qualifications are desirable.
- Membership of the Association for Project Management (MAPM) is preferred.
- Must be a Sole UK National able to achieve and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Holding current SC clearance is desirable.

Desirable Experience
- Experience working with UK Government organisations.
- Infrastructure and construction project experience.
- Experience within the Nuclear sector.
- Understanding of MoD procurement procedures.
- Familiarity with JSPs, DEFCONS, and the CADMID cycle.

Security Clearance
Due to the sensitive nature of Defence projects, applicants must be Sole UK Nationals eligible to obtain and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Eligibility may be affected by nationality, place of birth, citizenship, and residency history. This clearance is essential for this role.
