About the Role
Discover what it’s like to work in a compliance role that makes an impact. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is the UK’s tax, payments and customs authority, collecting the money that funds public services and supporting families and individuals with targeted financial assistance.

The Senior Audio-Visual Practitioner role is a unique opportunity to lead and shape critical elements of HMRC’s Audio Visual (AV) Forensic Service, supporting investigation teams across the organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring all AV forensic work is delivered to the highest standard, adhering to forensic strategy, principles, and meeting the requirements of the Forensic Science Regulator and ISO aligned standards.

This role involves managing the end-to-end processing of analogue and digital audio, video, and photographic evidence for use within the Criminal Justice System. You will provide technical leadership, expert advice, and consultancy on forensic strategy and technical problem solving. You will also lead and develop junior colleagues, supporting the effective use of AV systems and processes across HMRC.

On-site operations, such as search warrants, form an important part of enforcement work, where your experience will support frontline teams in fast-paced operational environments.

The role includes contributing to governance, development, and continuous improvement of AV evidence systems, equipment, and workflows, ensuring consistent and compliant application across operational activity.
