About the Role
This permanent role requires office/court attendance three days a week. Brent is a vibrant London Borough known for its diversity and iconic Wembley Stadium. The council is undergoing a significant transformation to better serve its community, making this an exciting time to join.
As a Senior Child Care Lawyer, you will be based at Brent’s Civic Centre, conveniently located near Wembley Stadium and approximately a 12-minute train ride from Baker Street and Kings Cross.
You will actively support the management of the department and provide high-level, proactive expert legal advice on children’s social services law to the Council, its members, and officers. You will be a key point of contact for members and senior officers on legal matters relating to Children public law.
The role involves attending court, tribunals, or public inquiries as a Senior Advocate, conducting high-quality advocacy in the High Court, Family Court, Coroners Court, including all hearings up to contested and complex hearings.
You will also monitor the quality of work undertaken by the legal team.

Experience
Proven experience conducting Children public law proceedings. Experience in providing expert legal advice and advocacy in children’s social services law.

Qualifications
Admitted Solicitor, Qualified Barrister, or Chartered CILEX with litigation rights.
