About the Role
The Senior Clinical Coder plays a vital role within Barts Health NHS Trust, responsible for accurately coding clinical information to support patient care, clinical audit, and financial reimbursement. This role requires detailed knowledge of clinical terminology and coding standards to ensure high-quality data capture. You will work closely with clinical teams and other stakeholders to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with NHS guidelines. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical coding processes and data quality within a large, dynamic NHS Trust.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in clinical coding within an NHS or healthcare environment is essential. Experience with ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding systems is required. Familiarity with NHS Digital standards and clinical terminology is highly desirable.

About you
You are detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with clinical staff are important. You demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high standards of data quality and confidentiality.

Qualifications
Relevant clinical coding qualifications such as the National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) or equivalent are required. Ongoing professional development and a willingness to keep up to date with coding standards and NHS policies are expected.
