About the Role
Join Biffa as an experienced Senior Engineering Supervisor responsible for overseeing and guiding the engineering team to achieve optimal performance. You will manage operational engineering needs and workloads efficiently to minimise downtime, combining technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership to drive operational excellence. Your role supports continuous improvement of a safe and high-performing culture within the engineering teams by developing skills and implementing best practices.

You will supervise and lead Maintenance Engineers and Technicians to respond effectively to all operational engineering requirements, prioritising workloads to reduce downtime. Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures is essential to maintain a safe working environment for all.

Key responsibilities include producing and reviewing safety documents and job instruction procedures, overseeing scheduled maintenance days, coordinating contractors, and managing the permit to work system to ensure safety. You will develop team members’ abilities through coaching and guidance in problem-solving related to plant and machinery faults.

Effective communication of team performance and activities through shift reports and handovers is vital to keep management, engineering, and production teams informed. You will lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities to identify failure causes and implement preventative measures to enhance plant uptime. Proactively identifying potential faults and opportunities for improvement in plant and equipment is also a key part of the role.

Additionally, you will manage and oversee the planning and execution of shutdown days, coordinating tasks, supervising contractors, and ensuring safety through the permit to work system.
