About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Executive Support Officer to provide dedicated executive support to the Strategic Director of Change and Improvement. This pivotal role ensures high-quality, timely, and forward-thinking support across a dynamic and fast-paced directorate. You will work closely with the Envoy Support Team Lead, fellow Senior Executive Support Officers, and senior stakeholders across the Business Support Hub, liaising with Corporate and Divisional Directors on operational matters, strategic initiatives, and service delivery.
As a key enabler of transformational change, you will support the Chief Executive / Corporate Director and act as the primary liaison for the directorate’s engagement with the Mayor, Lead Members, Councillors, and other internal and external partners.
Key responsibilities include comprehensive executive support such as inbox and diary management, prioritising access and communications for the Strategic Director, leading on forward planning to anticipate changes in service needs, and coordinating cross-directorate engagement to translate political vision into actionable plans. You will manage procurement and requisition processes within budget, ensuring compliance with financial and procurement regulations, maintain high service standards with meticulous attention to detail, and balance organisational priorities and reputational risk.
Additional duties involve undertaking project work and ad hoc tasks aligned with council-wide priorities, including emergency response support as a loggist when required. You will also provide absence cover for Executive Support Officers and deputise for the Envoy Support Team Lead as needed.

Experience
Proven experience in executive support to senior leaders, ideally within Change, Strategy, or Improvement functions. Strong PA skills with a deep understanding of stakeholder priorities and the operational needs of senior leadership.

Knowledge of local government structures, governance, and decision-making processes. Familiarity with financial and procurement procedures and ability to manage budgets effectively. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present sensitive information clearly to diverse audiences. Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
