About the Role
The Senior Facilities Manager (SFM) leads both people management and facilities management functions across a portfolio of properties. This role is responsible for developing and supporting a facilities management team, ensuring high standards, compliance, and alignment with The Crown Estate’s values and business objectives. You will oversee the delivery of facilities services, ensuring best practice and excellent customer service.

Main accountabilities include leading and developing the facilities management team through effective recruitment, training, and performance management; championing a safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with health and fire safety regulations; managing day-to-day operations to deliver high-quality hard and soft services; mentoring and supporting career development within the team; managing service partners and acting as an escalation point; driving financial management including service charge budgets and procurement; supporting operational initiatives and innovative solutions to improve service and customer experience; acting as Duty Manager on a rotation to lead tactical responses to out-of-hours emergencies; ensuring robust disaster planning, incident management, and reporting; supporting The Crown Estate’s net zero carbon ambitions through building-level initiatives; and maintaining high standards through regular site inspections and contractor management compliance.

Requirements

Experience
At least 7 years of significant facilities management experience, ideally including team leadership or operations management. Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate business ideas effectively. Experience managing small teams and driving operational change. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in property management. Knowledge of safety, quality, and cost risks.

Qualifications
IWFM qualification (Level 3 or equivalent), IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH National General Certificate, and/or Associate RICS or MIWFM. Bachelor’s degree or building services engineering qualification is desirable.
