£58,461 - £61,653 per annum (PO6/PO7) including London weighting, plus fantastic benefits

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Lawyer (In-House Advocate – Child Care) to join our team based at the Civic Centre, located next to Wembley Stadium and approximately a 12-minute train ride from Baker Street and Kings Cross.

The successful candidate will actively support the management of the department and provide high-level, proactive expert legal advice on children’s social services law to the Council, its members, and officers. You will be a key point of contact for senior officers and members on legal matters relating to Children public law.

This role requires court attendance, including conducting high-quality advocacy in the High Court, Family Court, Coroners Court, and other tribunals or public inquiries, handling all hearings up to contested and complex levels. You will also monitor the quality of work undertaken by the legal team.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience in advocacy within Children Public Law.
- Experience conducting Children public law hearings from urgent/first appointments through to contested final hearings.

- Flexible and adaptable individual with strong knowledge of Children Public Law.
- Ability to provide expert legal advice and support to senior officers and members.
- Commitment to working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Willingness to work in a demanding but supportive setting with flexible working options.

Qualifications
- Admitted Solicitor, or
- Qualified Barrister, or
- Chartered CILEX with litigation rights.
