Location
Global Headquarters in Cambridge, as well as offices in London, Manchester, and Bristol.

Hours
Full-time, permanent role with hybrid and flexible working options. During probation (typically first 6 months), working from home up to 2 days per week is permitted. After probation, up to half the working time can be remote, measured over a 2-week rolling period.

Salary
£50,000 to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About the Role
As a Senior Medical Writer at Costello Medical, you will lead diverse Medical Communications projects within a skilled project team to deliver high-quality work to clients. You will provide strategic input at project initiation, oversee project delivery, and maintain regular communication with clients to ensure deliverables meet exceptionally high standards and agreed timelines. Your responsibilities include reviewing junior colleagues’ work for accuracy and quality, providing constructive feedback, and supporting team development.

You will work across Medical Communications sub-teams focusing on either or both of the following project types:
- Publications: strategic publication planning, poster design, manuscript development, abstract production, and more
- Medical Affairs: advisory boards, congress support, development of medical information and educational materials for various events, and more

In addition to project leadership, you will contribute to business development by building and sustaining strong client relationships and identifying opportunities to extend or enhance services within existing projects. As you progress, you may take on greater responsibility for client management, including budgeting, project finances, and line management of interns.

Experience
- Typically at least two years’ professional experience within an agency setting.
- Delivery of medical communications projects, including publications, medical affairs, or both.
- Direct client communication, adapting to different communication styles.
- Day-to-day leadership of project teams, delegating tasks and managing others’ time.

Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1).
- Diverse specialisms welcomed, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, pharmacy, and medicine.
- Excellent proficiency in written English and arithmetic.
