The Pensions Administration Consulting team is a newly established and growing specialist group within GAD, partnering with a diverse range of public service clients to provide expert consultancy on strategic administration projects for some of the UK’s largest pension schemes.
We are seeking a Senior Pensions Consultant with substantial experience in pensions administration to develop and deliver innovative consulting services, drive business growth, and build strong, enduring relationships with key clients and stakeholders across the sector.
Key challenges you will help clients address include:
- Ensuring member benefits are paid correctly and on time

- Enhancing scheme governance and operational effectiveness
- Supporting members’ understanding of their pensions and enhancing the service they receive
- Delivering change projects such as provider transitions or system transformations efficiently and effectively
In this role, you will provide high-quality advice to government departments and other GAD clients on the administration of member benefits, lead client engagements, identify and develop new consulting opportunities, and act as a subject matter expert supporting actuarial colleagues on complex administration and governance issues. You will collaborate with scheme administrators, sponsoring departments, and external stakeholders to achieve optimal member outcomes.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of public sector pensions administration and contribute to GAD’s mission to improve public sector pensions administration.
Experience
Substantial experience in pensions administration and strategic consultancy within the occupational pensions industry is essential. Proven knowledge of defined benefit occupational pension schemes, including administrative functions and scheme governance, is required. Experience working with public service pension provision is desirable.
About you
You will be an experienced pensions professional capable of making an immediate impact by leading client partnerships to scope, design, and deliver project outputs addressing complex technical pension challenges. You will demonstrate strong collaboration, commercial awareness, and ownership of project workstreams and client relationships. You will contribute to policy development and departmental decision-making, working closely with scheme administrators to enhance service delivery for members. You will also play a key role in supporting the learning and development of other pensions administration colleagues and act as a role model within the team.
