About the Role
As a full-time Approved Mental Health Act Professional (AMHP) for the London Borough of Barnet, you will carry out all AMHP duties as required by the Mental Health Act. This includes triaging referrals, liaising with GPs and key partner agencies to develop and maintain multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working. You will provide high-quality, comprehensive assessments involving input from Nearest Relatives, other relatives, service providers (both NHS Trust and external), and carers. You will assess and arrange hospital admissions under the Mental Health Act (1983) or on a voluntary basis, or refer/signpost to least restrictive alternatives to admission. Safeguarding adults and carers at risk of harm and promoting Making Safeguarding Personal principles and their well-being will be key responsibilities. Additionally, you will act as and train Practice Learning Educator to facilitate AMHP training.

Requirements

Experience
Proven competency in handling confidential and sensitive personal information securely in accordance with GDPR and Caldicott principles.
Competent in the use of case management systems with an understanding of their benefits to service efficiency, effectiveness, and safety.

About You
You will have a working and applied knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983) and Care Act (2014), as well as familiarity with other relevant legislation such as the Children Act (1989 and 2004), Mental Capacity Act (2005), and Human Rights Act (1998). You will be committed to safeguarding vulnerable adults and promoting their well-being.
You will demonstrate strong multi-agency collaboration skills and the ability to provide high-quality assessments and decision-making under pressure.

Qualifications
Approved Mental Health Professional qualification
Social Work Degree or Diploma, Nursing or Occupational Therapy qualification including registration with the relevant professional body
