About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join the Children and Young Adults with Disabilities (CYADS) Team as a Senior Practitioner Transitions Designated Social Care Officer. This dual-role combines operational leadership as a Senior Practitioner within the CYADS Transition Team and strategic oversight as the Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO). You will provide vital support to the Team Manager by overseeing daily operations, supervising staff, supporting colleagues with complex casework, and fostering team development. A key responsibility is ensuring support plans are delivered cost-effectively and make efficient use of local resources.
In the DSCO capacity, you will play a strategic role in enhancing services across the borough by improving collaboration and coordination between social care, education, and health services. Your work will focus on providing a seamless support system for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), improving their quality of life and outcomes. This role is instrumental in ensuring Harrow Council meets its statutory responsibilities under relevant legislation, upholding national standards and promoting best practices across the service.
Experience
- Minimum of two years post-qualification experience in a social work role.

Qualifications
- Qualified Social Worker holding CQSW, DipSW/HE, BA in Social Work, or MA/MSc in Social Work.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Hold the Practice Educator qualification.
- Educational attainment to degree level or equivalent relevant work experience.
