About the Role
Project management at Rail Delivery Group (RDG) is about balancing driving delivery with being an inspiring leader who forges strong working relationships. As a Senior Project Manager at RDG, you will work across project teams, operational teams and a range of stakeholders to successfully deliver projects to time, scope and budget, with risks and dependencies recognised and managed. This role requires employing both project management tools and techniques alongside excellent people skills.

Key responsibilities include:
- Developing detailed project plans, including setting milestones and adhering to deadlines
- Identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- Ensuring work is completed to the right standard and adapting to the specific needs of each project
- Leading and motivating project teams
- Coordinating multiple work streams and teams
- Ensuring projects run on time and within budget
- Measuring project performance using appropriate tools and reporting progress
- Managing changes to projects as necessary
- Ensuring delivery of project outcomes and benefits
- Working in accordance with the RDG Project Delivery Framework

Who you will work with
Project Team Members, Department for Transport, Transport for London, Third Party Suppliers, Train Operating Companies (TOCs) / member organisation representatives, Network Rail, DfT Operator

Experience
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager or similar with strong aptitude and solid relevant knowledge. Specific skills and experience include:
- Managing third-party suppliers and coordinating with internal functions such as QA and service delivery
- Delivering complex technical projects aligned with recognised delivery lifecycles
- Managing project scope including benefits management, change control, configuration management, change management and requirements management
- Project scheduling for both resource and time
- Creating projects from problem statements and articulating scope
- Project budget and cost control
- Managing risk with a range of risk techniques
- Handling external resources including third party contracts and procurement
- Understanding and translating project business cases into successful delivery
- Project planning, reporting and stakeholder management
- Experience and qualifications in standard project methodologies such as Prince2, Agile, Scrum
- Proficiency with project tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project or Smartsheet
- Experience managing cloud and platform implementations is highly desirable
