About the Role
As a Senior Public Health Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering public health improvements across two of London’s most dynamic boroughs, Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea. Working within an ambitious Bi-borough Public Health team, your focus will be on improving residents’ health and wellbeing and tackling health inequalities through strategic programme management and service review. This role demands turning strategy into tangible action by managing programmes that support council priorities, meet statutory public health requirements, and respond to local needs. You will collaborate closely with colleagues, strategic leads, Heads of Service, and partners to deliver measurable public health outcomes. Your expertise will help embed public health principles across council services, commissioning, and wider activities, ensuring effective use of skills and funding. Building strong relationships with senior management and stakeholders, you will act as a trusted adviser, providing coaching, influence, and respectful challenge where necessary. Your sound judgement, resilience, and political awareness will be essential in maintaining focus on impactful work for residents. Additionally, you will contribute to the team’s culture, development, and business planning, exemplifying the council’s values, behaviours, and key Public Health competencies. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow strategic leadership and broaden your influence in local public health change. Please refer to the Job Description for further details.

Understanding of the commissioning cycle and service design with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

About you

Excellent communication skills, capable of writing detailed reports, delivering presentations, and handling sensitive conversations with tact and political awareness.
