About the Role
As a Senior Tenancy Support Officer within the City of London Corporation’s Homelessness Prevention and Rough Sleeping Service, you will lead a small dynamic team supporting tenants to maintain their tenancies and remain in their homes. The team works across all estates within and outside the square mile and collaborates closely with Care Leavers and other internal and commissioned partners.
You will manage and allocate referrals for support needs, oversee the day-to-day work of the team, and maintain a strong focus on quality, outcomes, and strength-based practice while working at pace.
Working alongside colleagues in Rough Sleeping, Homelessness Health, the Pathways Team, Social Workers, and Strengths-Based Practitioners, you will ensure coordinated, safe, and effective support for vulnerable residents.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing referrals and allocating case work to officers
- Supporting the development of individualised, time-limited support plans to promote independent living and tenancy sustainment
- Making arrangements for homeless people and those threatened with homelessness, including temporary accommodation where appropriate
- Working collaboratively with commissioning and health partners
- Championing anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and inclusive practice
You will report to the Pathways Coordinator and contribute actively to service development and the City of London Corporation’s response to homelessness and rough sleeping.
This is a fixed term, full-time position for 2 years with hybrid working arrangements.
Experience
Proven experience as a Tenancy Support or Housing Officer with a strong understanding of the Housing Act, Homelessness Reduction Act, and Universal Credit. Experience supporting vulnerable service users in community settings is essential.
About you
You will demonstrate sound knowledge of homelessness and housing legislation and statutory duties, with the ability to deliver clear information, advice, and guidance. A commitment to strengths-based and person-centred practice is vital, alongside confidence working across organisational boundaries.
You should have a reflective, resilient, and compassionate approach to working with vulnerable people and be open to innovation and change.
Qualifications
While specific qualifications are not detailed, knowledge of relevant legislation and experience in tenancy support are required. The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check with children’s and adult’s barred list check as this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
