About the Role
The post holder will work within a multi-agency team for the Youth Offending Service to prevent offending by children and young people. Key responsibilities include working restoratively and contributing to the development and implementation of Court Orders and Interventions in line with the powers of criminal courts (Sentencing Act 2000) as amended. The role involves delivering services to young people who are remanded on bail, in Local Authority accommodation, secure accommodation, or custody prior to sentencing by local Courts. Additionally, the post holder will prepare reports for the Court and Youth Offender Panels in accordance with National Standards for young offenders appearing before the Youth or Crown Court.
Experience
Experience in undertaking well-informed, analytical, and personalised assessments of young people who offend (ASSET Plus/Triage assessment) in a nondiscriminatory manner is essential.

- Ability to negotiate, develop, and implement appropriate plans based on assessed desistance factors, risks, and needs of young people, victims, and local communities, with consideration of diversity issues.
- Ability to interpret advice and statute to devise policy and practice accordingly.
- Strong skills in building good working relationships and engaging young people and their families in professional and sustained relationships where appropriate.
- Ability to work independently and consult on complex issues.
- Ability to plan and manage a caseload under pressure, applying a case management model to work with young people and their families.
