About the Role
We are seeking dedicated Social Care Assistants who are passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children. Join our Children with Disabilities Specialist team within the London Borough of Waltham Forest, a vibrant and ambitious borough driven by culture, creativity, and community. Key responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating children’s plans, resolving service queries, providing timely and accurate information, engaging directly with children and families, supporting children in need reviews, and maintaining records to ensure smooth service delivery. You will help maximise life chances through education, healthcare, and leisure opportunities, promoting a positive image of the Council and working within agreed guidelines and policies.
Experience
- Minimum of one year’s experience in Health and Social Care, preferably working with children and families
- Knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and children in need, including relevant legislation, guidance, and procedures
- Experience delivering culturally sensitive services responsive to a multi-cultural community
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure
- Experience managing quality services and meeting key performance indicators
- Ability to work well within a team and maintain clear reporting lines

- Agile and adaptable to change, with strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Committed to the participation of children, young people, and families at individual and service levels
- Willingness to work flexible or unsocial hours in rare emergency situations

Qualifications
- Understanding of the Children Acts 1989 and 2004 and other relevant legislation is desirable
- Awareness of current childcare policy and practice is an advantage
- Commitment to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and Health and Safety requirements
- This role is subject to safer recruitment practices, including satisfactory DBS check and identity verification
- Fluency in spoken English sufficient for effective role performance is required
