About the Role
We are recruiting Community Social Care Officers with a range of different skills and experience to join our community teams across Kent. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance locality working practice, putting the person and good practice at the heart of what we do. You will work with adults who have a range of care and support needs, placing individuals at the centre of their support. Your responsibilities will include undertaking initial enquiries, building relationships with people, their carers and wider partners, and supporting crisis intervention through Care Act assessments and Mental Capacity Act assessments. You will be supervised by an experienced registered practitioner.

Our social care interventions focus on three pillars: excellent practice, exceptional innovation, and meaningful measures. Our work is oriented around building strong relationships with individuals, their families, and carers. We engage with communities early to empower people to find trusted help and support locally from a range of sources.

We are moving towards an 8 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week service to ensure accessibility and meet service needs. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and requires a Full UK Driving Licence, although reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants unable to drive due to disability.

Experience of working with people with social care needs and undertaking initial assessments is essential. Experience of working within a multi-agency environment is required.

About you
You will have excellent interpersonal, mediation, and negotiation skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. You must have good computer literacy and report writing skills. Financial skills and knowledge are also important. You should be able to work in partnership with individuals and wider partners to identify community services or resources that support well-being. A positive, forward-thinking attitude and flexibility to travel across a wide geographical area at various times of the day are essential.

A willingness to undertake NVQ in Care Level 2 and 3 alongside Mathematics and English is required. Knowledge of relevant Social Care legislation is essential.
