About the Role
As a Social Work Case Manager within Westminster City Council’s Learning Disabilities Team, you will make a powerful contribution to the lives of people with learning disabilities and their families. You will champion independence, dignity, choice, self-esteem and wellbeing for service users with complex needs. Working as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with fellow case managers and social workers under the guidance of experienced managers. Your role will involve carrying out assessments that consider individuals’ unique strengths and risk levels, whether they live independently, with family carers, or in supported accommodation. You will take on the lead enquiry officer role in safeguarding processes, produce person-centred support plans, and enable informed choices about care services. This role offers excellent opportunities for learning and career development within a supportive environment.
Experience
Experience working in a local authority or health setting is essential. You should be familiar with social services duty systems and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of working with people who have learning disabilities is highly desirable. Knowledge of relevant legislation and understanding of budgets and financial controls are required.
About you
You will hold a recognised social work qualification and be a member of a professional register. You demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of personalisation, independence and choice. Your skills enable you to carry out accurate and timely assessments, promote self-directed care, negotiate effectively with other agencies, and maintain comprehensive case records. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with service users, carers and colleagues are essential. Westminster City Council is committed to supporting Care Leavers into the workplace and offers an interview guarantee for eligible candidates under this scheme.
