About the Role
The Solutions Architect will play an integral role in defining, delivering and supporting solutions for Rail Delivery Group’s delivery programmes, products and services. You will be responsible for ensuring that the solution architecture meets business requirements, leverages RDG’s cloud platform and shared technology services, aligns with RDG Architecture Principles and Policies, and complies with any agreed Government Digital Service (GDS) standards. This role requires close collaboration with multiple teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient solutions that support the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Experience
- Software procurement, design, development and integration, including front-end and/or back-end development and complex systems/data integration involving multiple internal and external applications and shared technology platforms.
- Cloud platforms and data services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), AWS Redshift, and Tableau.
- Platform and infrastructure services including API gateway and management (e.g. AWS API Gateway), message queue and broker technologies (e.g. Kafka, ActiveMQ), and Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions (e.g. Microsoft Entra ID).

About you
You are a skilled architect with a strong understanding of modern cloud platforms and integration technologies. You have the ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions while ensuring compliance with architectural standards and policies. You are collaborative, proactive, and able to work effectively across diverse teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications
Relevant professional experience in solution architecture or related IT disciplines is essential. Formal qualifications in IT, computer science, or related fields are desirable but not mandatory. Certifications related to cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect) or architecture frameworks will be advantageous.
