About the Role
We are recruiting a Specialist Clinical Practitioner within the Therapeutic Fostering and Care Team (TFACT), part of Regulated Services and Resources in the Children’s & Culture Division. Our small Clinical Psychology led team works alongside the Fostering Development Teams and the Permanency Assessment and Support Teams to support Tower Hamlets carers and social workers in improving the wellbeing of care experienced children and those under Special Guardianship orders.
The role involves providing individual therapeutic support to families to strengthen relationships between carers and children, aiming to reduce home breakdowns. You will also deliver therapeutic, trauma-informed groups and training to carers and social workers. Our primary therapeutic model is Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), alongside other trauma-informed approaches.
Tower Hamlets is committed to building strong families through compassionate, strength-based practice frameworks including Restorative Practice, Systemic and Trauma Informed Practice. Our C-Change approach (Connect, Curious, Community, Co-Produce, Collaborate, Check) guides our work with children, young people, parents, carers, and colleagues.
We are ambitious for positive outcomes and place children and families at the heart of everything we do.
Experience
Experience working therapeutically with children and families, ideally within fostering or care settings, is highly desirable. Knowledge of trauma-informed therapeutic models and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) is advantageous.
About you
You will be compassionate, collaborative, and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families. You should be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate strong communication and reflective practice skills. A commitment to the values of Tower Hamlets, including inclusivity and respect, is essential.
Qualifications
Relevant clinical qualifications and professional registration are required to practice as a Specialist Clinical Practitioner. You must be eligible to work with vulnerable children and undergo a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as this role is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
