About the Role
As a Studio Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the technical readiness and reliability of broadcast facilities across Television Centre. Working across multiple studios and production environments, you will maintain, align, modify and operate a wide range of broadcast systems and equipment. You will provide expert technical support to production teams, troubleshoot complex issues, and help develop innovative solutions that enable the successful delivery of world-class television.

BBC Studioworks is a commercial subsidiary of BBC Studios providing studios and post production services to major broadcasters and production companies including BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 4, Channel 5, Amazon and Netflix. Our London facilities at Television Centre and Elstree Studios house multiple studios, including 4K UHD capable spaces, and support flagship productions such as Eastenders. Studioworks also operates studios in Glasgow and Birmingham.
Your key responsibilities will include maintaining and troubleshooting broadcast equipment and systems, partnering with production teams to deliver effective broadcast solutions, driving technical innovation, rigging and operating studio equipment, leading refurbishment projects, and promoting a safe and efficient working environment through compliance and training.
Experience
Relevant qualifications, training, or significant practical experience in broadcast engineering within a television studio, live production or broadcast environment. Strong technical knowledge of broadcast technology including cameras, routers, vision and audio mixers, sound desks, communications systems, talkback infrastructure, computer systems and networks. Experience working with a range of broadcast systems and software, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and workflows.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a customer-focused approach. Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills, able to prioritise competing demands and identify practical solutions. A highly self-motivated and collaborative team player with a positive, flexible approach and a strong understanding of production requirements. Able to perform critical audio and visual quality assessments including colour accuracy and sound quality.
Qualifications
Relevant broadcast engineering qualifications or equivalent practical experience. Ability to maintain high technical standards including critical assessment of television pictures, waveforms, audio quality and overall signal performance.
