About the Role
The Adults & Public Health Directorate is seeking a Team Leader to develop a Unit that provides high quality care and adapts to the changing needs of service users. Reporting to the Registered Manager, you will manage a team including residential support workers, care assistants, domestics, and cooks. You will oversee the day-to-day running and supervision of residential, respite, or supported living schemes within the In-House residential services.
Your responsibilities will include creating an environment that encourages service users to develop their skills at their own pace, enabling them to reach their full potential in social, emotional, and developmental areas. You will provide direct care, lead staff on shift, assist the Registered Manager with performance management, and support care staff in formulating care plans and risk assessments in line with Harrow policy. Additionally, you will help manage and implement the staff rota to ensure smooth operations.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years working with adults who have disabilities
- At least 2 years in a Residential Support Worker (RSW) level or similar shift leader role
- 2 years’ experience providing services to people with severe learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, or challenging needs
About you
- Knowledge of the Care Standards Act 2000 and its application
- Understanding of Community Care Legislation and its implications for services and service users
- Ability to effectively utilise resources including staff and budgets
- Strong planning, organising, and monitoring skills for managing a diverse staff team
- Competent in carrying out risk assessments for the service, staff, and service users
- Understanding of the social, emotional, and physical developmental needs of adults with severe learning disabilities
- Ability to chair and minute meetings
Qualifications
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
