About the Role
The Adults & Public Health Directorate is seeking a Team Leader to develop a Unit that delivers high quality care and adapts to the changing needs of service users. Reporting to the Registered Manager, you will provide management support to a diverse staff group including residential support workers, care assistants, domestics, and cooks. You will oversee the day-to-day running and supervision of residential, respite, or supported living schemes within the In-House residential services.
Your responsibilities include creating an environment that encourages service users to develop their skills at their own pace, helping them reach their full potential in social, emotional, and developmental growth. You will ensure individuals are as fully integrated into the community as possible through appropriate approaches.
The role involves providing direct care to service users, leading staff on shift, assisting the Registered Manager with performance management, planning, monitoring, and supervising care staff. You will support care staff in formulating care plans and risk assessments in line with Harrow policy and assist with managing and implementing the staff rota.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years working with adults who have disabilities
- At least 2 years working at Residential Support Worker (RSW) level or similar shift leader position
- 2 years’ experience providing services to people with severe learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, or challenging needs
About you
- Knowledge of the Care Standards Act 2000 and its application
- Understanding of Community Care Legislation and its implications for services and service users
- Ability to make effective use of resources including staff and budgets
- Strong planning, organising, and monitoring skills for managing a diverse staff team
- Ability to carry out risk assessments for the service, staff, and service users
- Understanding of the developmental needs (social, emotional, and physical) of adults with severe learning disabilities
- Ability to chair and minute meetings
Qualifications
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
