About the Role
Are you an experienced Planning Technical Support Officer skilled in validating planning applications? Do you have local authority experience and are looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about the built environment and how our communities are shaped? If so, Elmbridge Borough Council invites you to join our dynamic Business Support Team. This team is the engine room supporting the entire Planning Service by validating and registering all planning applications, processing Planning Appeals, administering and monitoring the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), and leading process reviews, system updates, and service performance monitoring.
A typical working day includes:
- Validating a wide range of planning applications
- Responding to enquiries from applicants, agents, and members of the public with clear and professional advice
- Managing planning case administration from submission through to decision
- Supporting coordination of planning appeals and enforcement cases ensuring statutory deadlines and procedural requirements are met
- Contributing to improvements in planning processes, systems, and digital tools to enhance service delivery

Experience
Proven experience in validating planning applications within a local authority setting is essential.
