About the Role
We are seeking a hardworking, self-motivated individual to join our Delivery team as a Telephone Service Operative. This hands-on role supports our NWP (New World Payphone) products, ensuring equipment and services operate to required standards and timescales. You will be responsible for your own dedicated round, working across busy high streets, residential areas, and rural locations. This physically demanding outdoor role requires you to work independently, using your company van as your base.

Your day-to-day duties will include repairing, testing, cleaning, and installing telephone lines and payphone equipment; fault-finding and diagnostics; replacing components; conducting site inspections; and installing or removing equipment. You will also use handheld technology to record completed work, maintain the repair facility at the branch, and follow company health and safety procedures and instructions.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided to help you succeed in this role.

Key responsibilities include:
- Repairing, testing, and cleaning telephone lines
- Using handheld technology to record work
- Troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify and resolve issues promptly
- Fault-finding and repairing/replacing component-level parts on payphone equipment both on-site and at the branch repair facility
- Conducting pre-installation site inspections
- Installing and removing equipment
- Managing the NWP repair facility at the branch depot, including tidiness and stock storage
- Implementing and maintaining the company’s Health & Safety Policy at all times
- Programming NWP advertising equipment on-site and at the branch depot following written and verbal instructions

Experience
Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential. Willingness to learn new skills in telephone maintenance is required.

About you
You must hold a current UK driving licence with no more than 3 points. Good computer literacy and excellent verbal and communication skills are essential. You should be able to work productively, effectively, and efficiently under tight timescales while maintaining attention to detail. Comfort with using handheld technology and working independently outdoors is important.

No formal qualifications are required for this position, but a positive attitude and eagerness to learn are essential.
