About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to train over 2 years to become a Housing Enforcement Officer while playing a key role in bringing long-term empty properties back into residential use. Making empty properties into homes is a priority to reduce the impact of derelict properties on local communities and increase the number of houses available in the borough. The role involves investigative work, property inspections, legal action, administration of grants, and promotional activities. These duties will be completed alongside your training to ensure you gain the skills necessary to become a fully competent housing enforcement professional. Requirements

Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a relevant field such as Police, law enforcement, Fire Service, Building Control, Planning, Trading Standards, technical housing trades, or Housing Services; or a degree qualification in a relevant legal, STEM, or humanities subject. Additionally, a minimum of two years’ experience in a customer-facing role is required.

About You
You should have a strong desire and commitment to develop technical knowledge and understanding related to the role of Housing Enforcement Officer. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with a wide range of contacts. You must be able to handle difficult or complex issues and be comfortable working in a sometimes confrontational and challenging environment delivering difficult messages. Qualifications
A degree qualification in a relevant legal, STEM, or humanities subject is preferred but not mandatory if you have relevant experience as outlined above.
