About the Role
Join SSE as a Trainee Jointer and start your career in the energy sector with fully funded training to become a qualified Cable Jointer. The programme lasts 18 to 24 months, beginning with an initial course at our training school followed by on-the-job buddying with experienced cable jointing teams. You will build a portfolio of work to gain authorisations to work on the network, gaining valuable skills, experience, and an industry-recognised qualification.
This role is vital to maintaining and upgrading the electricity network, helping keep the lights on for millions of customers. You will assist in cable preparation, jointing, and termination on both high voltage (11KV - 33KV) and low voltage (415V - 1000V) networks, as well as supporting maintenance and refurbishment of electrical equipment within substations.
The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and responding quickly to emergency situations, including out-of-hours standby duties and short-notice storm attendance. You will be provided with all necessary tools, PPE, and, once qualified, access to a company vehicle.
SSEN offers a skills-based pay matrix, career stability in a sustainable industry, and ongoing progression opportunities. On joining, you will also have access to a range of benefits supporting your family, finances, and wellbeing.
