About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead Barnet’s strategic and operational response to Domestic Abuse (DA) and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), including full strategic oversight of the Barnet Domestic Abuse Support Hub (BDASH), now delivered in-house. This role ensures a coherent, multi-agency, high-quality approach that improves outcomes for adult and child victims/survivors, strengthens early identification and intervention, and reduces harm and risk across the borough.

The post offers specialist advice to senior leaders, councillors, partners, and practitioners, ensuring Barnet meets all statutory duties under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. It involves facilitating and negotiating improved multi-agency working on DA and VAWG issues on behalf of the Safer Communities Partnership, providing specialist support and guidance to partners, members, senior management of the council and colleagues.

Responsibilities include reviewing and commissioning specialist DA and VAWG services and projects, monitoring and evaluating performance, risks and issues, and seeking and securing funding to enhance Barnet’s response to DA and VAWG.

Borough-wide, Barnet is committed to creating a culture where practice excellence, strong relationships, and continuous learning underpin all work. The role is supported by a strong workforce development programme to help you grow as a leader while embedding Barnet’s values and practice standards across your team.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant experience across domestic abuse and VAWG, with in-depth understanding of complex DA dynamics, risk management, MARAC, and intersectional needs.
- Experience managing or strategically overseeing DA/VAWG operational services, ideally including IDVA or similar frontline models.
- Experience of leading multi-agency partnerships and influencing senior stakeholders in statutory and voluntary sectors.
- Strong understanding of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, safeguarding legislation, information sharing requirements, and governance arrangements.
- Ability to lead strategic programmes and oversee operational delivery in a high-risk, high-demand service.

About you
You will have a passion for delivering high-quality, equitable services that recognise and respond to diversity within our communities. You are committed to collaborative working and continuous improvement, with strong leadership skills to inspire and support your team.

Qualifications
Not explicitly stated, but relevant professional experience and knowledge of DA/VAWG legislation and practice are essential.
