Part Time - 7 hours per week, Saturdays between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm
Salary
Scale 4: Starting salary £31,980 pro rata, rising in annual increments to £33,384 per annum including London Weighting
About the Role
Do you enjoy helping people? Do you love books and reading? Are you confident in using IT? As a Weekend Library Assistant you will support people of all ages in busy libraries. Your duties will include helping customers find books and use IT, supporting events and promotions, stock-work and maintaining a tidy and welcoming environment. The role requires physical activity such as lifting, moving furniture, and assisting customers to access materials and services. This frontline role is vital in delivering excellent library services across the borough.

About the Team
Lambeth Libraries operate ten libraries across the borough, supporting people of all ages with a wide range of activities from baby rhyme groups to author festivals. Our staff are passionate about encouraging reading, digital skills, and lifelong learning. We foster staff development through involvement in the wider library network and offer opportunities to build careers in libraries or related fields.
Experience
Previous library or customer service experience is desirable but not essential. Enthusiasm for books, reading, and helping people is key.
About you
You should be confident in using IT, enjoy working with people of all ages, and be physically able to meet the demands of the role including lifting and moving furniture. A positive, friendly attitude and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required for this position. A willingness to learn and develop your skills within the library environment is important.
