About the Role
This fixed term position (14 months) is within the Tower Hamlets School Admissions Service, which provides high quality services to children, schools and families in relation to school admissions, appeals, home to school travel, children missing education and elective home education. The Admissions Assistant will support the team by carrying out day-to-day tasks related to school admissions and appeals, ensuring the Local Authority meets its statutory duties within set timescales. The role requires flexibility and the ability to support other areas of the team as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the service.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience of school admissions work within a school or local authority setting is essential.
- Experience of working in a front-line or customer focussed environment is required.

- Ability to assimilate knowledge of current legislation, statutory procedures and codes of practice relating to school admissions and appeals.
- Highly competent, motivated and customer focused with a commitment to providing a high standard of service.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a personal workload effectively.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
- Proficient in making maximum use of IT systems.
- Flexibility to take the majority of annual leave during school holiday periods.
