We are looking for an AI Engineer to join a team delivering and running multi-brand AI-powered telephony and chat systems in Azure. The role involves ensuring the scalability, reliability, security, and efficiency of the application.

Key responsibilities include helping lead the delivery of best-in-class Generative & Agentic AI services to Sainsbury’s, deploying and configuring production systems with a focus on automation, scalability, and security, collaborating with engineers to design and evolve the system, expanding the evaluation framework alongside product owners and architects, monitoring new features and assessing operational implications, recommending improvements for reliability and efficiency, maintaining service dashboards and reporting, documenting support processes and resolutions, and participating in a 24/7 on-call rota as required.

Experience
- Proven commercial experience with Azure AI Foundry, ACS/Telephony, Voice Live, and Azure ML
- Industry experience with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Redux, and Java
- Experience with large language models (LLMs), including real-time models
- Familiarity with Docker, Container Apps, containerised distributed systems, Terraform, Kafka, New Relic, MCP, and Websockets
- Skilled in writing automated tests and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Proven experience with source and version control tools such as GitHub
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams within fast-paced DevOps environments
- Strong focus on tracking (JIRA), system monitoring, security, and auditing
- Ability to contribute insights to continuously improve the platform
- Ability to engage with and influence stakeholders

Qualifications
