About the Role
Historic England is the public organisation dedicated to bringing new life to heritage to build a better future for every place and everyone. As an Architectural Investigator, you will investigate, research, and assess aspects of the historic environment, focusing on buildings and the built environment. Your role will involve gathering, analysing, and interpreting research material and field data, then disseminating findings to inform the protection and management of the historic environment in support of Historic England's Corporate Plan. You will work flexibly across regional boundaries to meet research needs as required. Requirements

Experience
- High-standard academic or professional qualification in architectural history, buildings archaeology, or a related subject, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience investigating, analysing, and interpreting the historic fabric of buildings.
- Experience working on projects related to the built environment as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Broad knowledge of architectural history and history in general, with a specialism in one or more subject areas.
- High-standard research skills and familiarity with research sources, both online and in person (libraries, archives, etc.).
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both orally and in writing.

Qualifications
