About the Role
We are seeking an Assistant Collection Manager to join the Prints and Drawings department at The British Museum. This role focuses on the care and access of the collection, ensuring the preservation, management, and accessibility of valuable prints and drawings. You will work closely with curators and other museum professionals to support the handling, storage, and documentation of the collection, facilitating research and public engagement. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the stewardship of one of the world’s most important collections in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Experience
Previous experience in collection care, museum or gallery environment, or related field is highly desirable. Knowledge of handling and preservation techniques for works on paper is essential.

Detail-oriented and methodical with a strong commitment to collection care and access. You should be able to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. Enthusiasm for cultural heritage and a proactive approach to problem-solving are important.
Qualifications
A relevant qualification in conservation, museum studies, art history, or a related discipline is preferred. Practical experience with collections management systems and health and safety procedures related to collection handling is advantageous.
